I would like to share this amazing video with you all. 4 minutes 51 seconds but a great watch that really provokes a lot of thought. As the world becomes more and more digital, using a pen and various art forms some believe are on the way to dying out. These people believe fundamentally that this will create a huge void. Jake Weidmann is the youngest “Master Penman” in the United States by three generations. His attention to detail is quite incredible as he uses calligraphy to create fine art, reminding us how beautiful handwriting really is.

I am very pro digital technology and really enjoy the implementation of ICT in the classroom. I am also a mother of 2 girls 11 and 4 and appreciate and value getting outdoors, turning off the TV, playing in the dirt and rain. Experiencing all that life and living in New Zealand has to offer. Digital technologies are crucially important to New Zealand and it’s growth in the 21st century. It is essential that students in New Zealand are provided with opportunities to develop skills and knowledge in this area so they are equipped to respond to the fast changes in our society (Ministry of Education). Things for our children will be much different than they were for us, and different again for our children’s children. I believe it is about balance across all curriculum areas and to me there will always be a place for paper and a pen, though we must move with where the world is taking us.
